North Korea: Behind the Iron Curtain - watch the full debate here

As the world watches the North Korean football team's plucky performances in South Africa, the glamour of the occasion masks an altogether different reality for the citizens of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

So much about Kim Jong-Il's communist state is unknown - but we brought together four experts on the country to shed as much light on what life there is like and what the country's fractious relationship with its southern neighbour and western powers. They are: former UN special rapporteur Vitit Muntarbhorn; Lord Alton of Liverpool, chair of the all party parliamentary group for North Korea; Professor Hazel Smith, an security and resilience in Korea and Park Ji-hyun, author of Hungry for Peace: International Security, Humanitarian Assistance and Social Change in North Korea.
