We held the Frontline Club annual party and Journalism Awards on Friday 28 November. A great time was had by all. Romain Kedochim very kindly took photographs on the night and you can see in the slideshow above.

This year the Frontline Club Journalism Award went to Photojournalist Yuri Kozyrev for his exceptional coverage of the Iraq war. He has maintained a near continuous presence on the ground since March 2003 and his work has offered the world a unique, comprehensive and honest portrait of the people at the centre of the conflict. His essays can be found here and here.

The Frontline Special Commendation Journalist went to author Arkady Babchenko for his outstanding coverage of the war in South Ossetia and Georgia where he showed extraordinary courage and initiative to document the recent war. Babchenko currently works as a correspondent for Novaya Gazeta. His photo essay can be found here.

The recipient of the 2008 Frontline Memorial Tribute must remain undisclosed for their personal security.

The names of the winners will be carved on to a plaque in the clubroom and they will receive lifetime membership of the Frontline Club. Also, this year we are delighted to announce that the winners will also receive a high-end Canon product. 100% of funds raised on the night will go to the Fixers Fund - set up by the Frontline Club Charitable Trust to promote responsibility in the news industry for the welfare of fixers and translators.
