All at Sea

Don't get me wrong. Somalia is one of my favourite countries in my patch - whether sipping cappuccinos in a bombed out hotel or admiring the golden white beaches it's a fascinating place - and I'm lucky enough to count a handful of Somalis as friends, and never tire of listening to them explain the hierarchy of clans, sub-clans and sub-sub-clans one more time for the slow-learning journalist. But someone has really got to take away their guns. Is there anywhere else on the planet like it? Imagine what they could achieve if they learned to get along...This from Reuters
Rival Somali pirates arguing over what to do with a hijacked Ukrainian ship and its cargo of 33 tanks engaged in a shootout on board, killing three of their number, a maritime group said on Tuesday.

Hi Rob,

I've been enjoying your writing. Keep it up!

I work for an American public radio show called In The Loop. I was interested in talking with you about your coverage of the pirates off the coast of Somalia for our show this week. Would you be available for a brief chat at some point today? Please let me know when you get the chance.

Thanks!

What do you think?
