Reuters get their mojo converged

| 2

[video:youtube:L_OJGeamwbs] There's a lot of talk (too much???) about "media convergence" and here's some more in a video filmed during a roundtable at Reuters to discuss their mobile journalism project. The news agency is experimenting with small handheld Nokia recording equipment. While it's not the norm now, it's a fascinating look at where "convergence" is heading at the mainstream end of things and what might end up in your ordinary joe journalist's kitbag in the not too dim and distant,
"Use the camera to take the video, the keyboard to write the story, you upload using either GPRS, 3G or the wifi because that's built in as well. And that goes directly to our blogging platform. link

interestingly i spoke with a reuters journalist about this system and he told me he was on his 3rd N95. the latest one lasted 2 days in Afghanistan and now he was using the 3 year old nokia he had always used. technological advancement hey!

I've heard similar tales of the unreliability of the N95 on the journalism.co.uk freelance email forum. Theory is all well and good, but if the kit don't work it might be better to wait till it does.
