My interpreter Ammar and I had stopped briefly by the Tigris to film the US embassy on the other side of the river. We were shooting footage of the huge new apartment complexes that have been built next to the embassy. They show nicely that the Americans, in whatever form, are going to be staying in the country for the time being. It was a brief shot, filmed from the car, and we drove on quickly. Pulled over.
