POSTPONED Dinner Briefing: I’m a celebrity what am I doing here?
From Stephen Fry and other diners taking on sushi restaurant Nobu over its use of tuna to Angelina Jolie travelling the globe to highlight the plight of refugees, celebrities are often crucial to a campaign’s media coverage.
David Beckham and Rio Ferdinand took on knife crime and Blur bassist Alex James lent his support to a government crackdown on teen cocaine.
With media attention almost guaranteed it’s hardly surprising that charities such as Oxfam have staff dedicated to enlisting celebrity support.
But is a cash-strapped media relying too heavily on celebrities to highlight issues instead of investing in original journalism?
Now that Joanna Lumley has successfully taken on the Government on behalf of the Gurkha’s and Esther Rantzen is considering standing as an MP celebrities are now big news in domestic politics.
Join us at the Frontline Club for one of our highly popular dinner briefings looking which will look at the world of celebrities, celebrity endorsement and campaigns.
Panel: Robin Morgan, editor of the Sunday Times Magazine
Jen Corlew, head of news, Oxfam
Camilla Wright, editor of Celebrity website Popbitch
Dinner briefings combine the best of the Frontline Club – food, fine wines, discussion and debate. These off-the-record background briefings include a three-course dinner plus wine. Starting with a before-dinner panel discussion over a glass of wine, guests then have an opportunity to continue the discussion informally with panellists who move between tables for each of the courses.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please email julie.tomlin@frontlineclub.com in advance.
From 10pm onwards the discussion will continue informally in the members area.
