FULLY BOOKED Preview Screening – When China Met Africa
When China Met Africa explores the ever-shrinking world in which we live through a cast of international characters with echoing sentiments on two different continents.
The documentary simultaneously follows a historic gathering of over fifty African heads of state in Beijing and three Zambian entrepreneurs, managers, and ministers of Chinese and Zambian descent. Mr Liu is one of thousands of Chinese entrepreneurs who have settled across the continent in search of new opportunities. Mr Li, a project manager for a multinational Chinese company, is working on Zambia’s longest road while funds from the government start to dwindle. At the same time, Zambia’s trade minister is en route to China to secure millions of dollars of investment.
The burgeoning scope of the continent’s rising global power, and the macrocosm of the three protagonists’ lives in Zambia, are portrayed in When China Met Africa to explore the new meaning of globalisation.
