Blogging NATO Sec General calls for openness

NATO’s new Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, has used a video blog to call for NATO to be "as open and transparent as possible". 

Fogh Rasmussen, who took up his post on Saturday and has been outlining NATO’s strategic priorities today, said he wants to use the blog "to have a discussion" about the security issues affecting the alliance.

He vowed to update his "part of the conversation" every week and also answer questions and comments.

From the Secretary General’s website we learn that he has set up a significant social media offering including a Facebook page and a Twitter account. Saturday was his first day using Twitter.

It appears Fogh Rasmussen has been listening to those who have challenged NATO to "plug in" to the global conversation.
