Five years on from the invasion of Iraq, Rageh Omaar returns to the country on a personal journey to meet the people who inspired his coverage of the dramatic events.

Rageh’s reporting from Baghdad is best remembered for the piece he delivered from Fardus Square when Saddam Hussein’s statue was brought crashing down by US troops and Iraqi civilians. In The Iraq War by Numbers he makes a surprising discovery about what happened to the dismantled statue.

Above all it asks where Iraq stands five years on from the invasion and what the future holds for Iraq’s embattled population.
