Screening: Two Schools in Nablus – An education to die for
Trying to get an education in Nablus is a tough business for the children and teenagers of King Talal Boys School and Haji Rashda Girls School, especially when violence flares between Israeli forces and Palestinian youths right outside the school gates.
Heavily character driven, this documentary gives us some insight into two ordinary schools trying to cope under extraordinary pressures by talking to pupils, teachers and parents. Severe overcrowding, imprisonment and clashes with the Israeli forces are all factors contributing to the schools’ problems. Grief and fear are constant factors for all and getting an education is often the last thing on the pupils’ minds.
