Network is an Academy Award-winning 1976 satirical film about a fictional television network Union Broadcasting System (UBS) and its struggle with poor TV ratings.
When news anchor Howard Beale (Peter Finch), who hosts the UBS Evening News, is fired due to low ratings he threatens to commit suicide. Brought back on air for a dignified farewell Beale rants instead of apologising.
TV ratings soar. Beale gets his own TV show and a top billing as the "mad prophet of the airwaves." The film follows Beale’s meteoric rise and fall and serves as a vigorous critique of the network’s lack of ethics.
