Film Africa 2011 Screening – Lenin’s Children
A moving portrait of the men and women who fought for the liberation of Tunisia from the French colonial power.
The film focuses on the filmmaker’s father, a leading member of the Tunisian Communist Party, which along with other parties won independence from France in 1956.
From the heady optimism of the early days of independence, Lenin’s Children charts the country’s journey to dictatorship which only ended with the ousting of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011. A fascinating insight into the history of a county that sparked the Arab Spring.
