Food & Wine at the Restaurant
Traditional British cuisine is enhanced by seasonal variations and Frontline signature dishes. The food is sourced from specialist, independent producers and the fish is supplied directly from small boats off England's east coast.
"...In sourcing the Frontline wine list I was aiming to create something I have been searching for in 30 years of eating out in London and never found: a restaurant with an extraordinary range of delicious wines, many of them unusual and out-of-the way, all affordable at non-rip-off prices."

Deliciously elegant, peachy and citrussy, very finely balanced liquid.
Glass: 4.00 Bottle: 13.50
104 Dessimis Pinot Grigio Vei di Romans.‘07 It. 14%
Hailing from Friuli, in northern Italy, this shows vanilla and apricot fruit with an undertone of pannacotta. Truly different, delicious, daring.

WHITE WINES TO TEASE THE PALATE
101 Finca Los Prados Chenin/Semillon.‘08 Arg. 12.5%

Bottle: 16.00
102 Calbuco Semillon/Chardonnay ‘07 Chile 13%
Dry yet full of twists and turns of flavour (peach, citrus, pear). It is a very elegant, surprisingly classy wine.

107 Domaine la Croix Gratiot Picpoul de Pinet. ‘08 Fr. 12.5%
The Med’s greatest fish wine and appetite-whetter, made by the acknowledged top producer in the region. Lovely chalky dryness with a subtle mineral undertone.

Beautifully refreshing classy Kiwi with extremely delicate elongated fruit which stretches the palate
wonderously. Nothing of the green green grass of the old days.

WHITES WITH A LITTLE MORE SPICE (INCLUDING RIESLINGS)
103 Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling. ‘08 Au. 13%

subtleties.

Finely poised apricot finesse on display here, ripely yet demurely. The pinot gris grape in South Island can be a triumph as this example demonstrates.
Bottle: 24.00
105 Domaine Nicolas Girard Sancerre ‘07 Fr. 12.5%
Not only a novelty due to its marvellous taint-free screwcap but a wine bearing the name Sancerre I can unequivocally recommend. It has overpowering elegance and bite and if it were a woman it would be Grace Kelly (or, modern equivalent, Gwyneth Paltrow).
Bottle: 32.00
Reds
REDS WITH A LIGHTNESS OF TOUCH (YET THE PERSONALITY TO HANDLE FOOD)
201 Marquis de Salses Syrah. ‘08 Fr. 14.5%
If you enjoy the Aussie rendition of this grape (shiraz) then this is your tipple, though be prepared to be surprised how much more adult the Frog version is than the Wallaby.
Bottle: 16.00
202 Redfin Shiraz/Grenache. ‘04 Aus. 13.5%
Classic dry Aussie shiraz with a vivaciously berried richness. Classy and energetic this is a bold yet soft statement from Steve Pannell (one of south Australia¹s sexiest red wine makers).
Bottle: 17.50
203 Domaine la Croix Gratiot Carignan. ‘07 Fr. 12.5%
This is so elegant one wonders at the lowly status of its grape. The wine is smooth yet characterful with the underlying stylishness of haute couture tailoring (in slubbed silk).
Bottle: 16.00
205 Les Vignes de L’Eglise Grenache/Merlot ‘08 Fr. 13.5%
Beautifully textured plums with a dry richness defying the idea that grenache is a second-rate grape (the merlot widens the major grape¹s dimensions in the blend).
Glass: 4.00 Bottle: 13.50
211 Chateau la Tour de Beraud Costières de Nîmes. '07 Fr.
Superbly textured red of great class and aplomb which whilst being immensely approachable is versatile with a wide range of meat and cheese dishes.
Bottle: 19.50
REDS WITH A LITTLE MORE MUSCLE
206 Inspira Cabernet Sauvignon. ‘06 Chile. 13.5%
Clotted melted catering chocolate dusted with cocoa, touches of cherry liqueur, softly textured - yet it is a real cab with luxurious upholstery and a sleekly powerful engine.
Bottle: 17.50
218 Poggio al Tesoroa Sondraia. ‘06 It. 14.5%
Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc combine to drink like catering chocolate with tannin-drenched bitter cherries. A kind of super-Tuscan, it comes across like a top-class Pauillac made by a Californian.
Bottle: 39.00
220 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Allegrini. ‘05 It. 15%
Made from raisins in the Veneto, this is a perfumed velvety wine which pads across the palate offering coffee, liquorice, roasted nuts - all in the gorgeous undertow of ripe tannins.
Bottle: 53.00
208 Vina Chocalan Cabernet Franc Reserva. ‘06 Chile.
Made from the great Loire grape but here it shows south American verve and passion absent from the French model.
Bottle: 26.00
209 Domaine du Poujol Proteus Merlot/Carignan. ‘08 Fr. 14%
This is merlot as soft, and as easy to slip into, as a Gucci loafer. The carignan grape adds its quirky tannins to the blend.
Bottle: 21.00
213 Valentin Bianchi Enzo Bianchi. ‘03 Arg. 14.5%
This is a svelte yet hugely rugged blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. It strikes the palate like a grand cry classé claret of a rare, dizzily exotic year. It has immense depth, charm, and richness.
Bottle: 39.00
216 S.C. Pannell McLaren Vale Shiraz. ‘04 Aus. 14%
A handsome example of what Aussie shiraz can be, rich and savoury with tannins of immediacy and complexity.
Bottle: 42.00
217 Greenstone Heathcote Shiraz. ‘06 Aus. 13.5%
An Italianate, slightly rococo, style of shiraz, a bit like Tuscany meets the north Rhone. Bitter cherries, burned plums, gently volcanic tannins, this is a wine of textured class.
Bottle: 34.00
219 Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf-du-Pape. ‘05 Fr. 15%
A grenache, syrah and mourvedre alliance of striking sensuality and composed richness with svelte very silky fruit offering tobacco, cedar wood, plums, herbs and a hint of chocolate.
Bottle: 41.00
REDS WITH VERVE AND WEIGHT
204 Firesteed Oregon Pinot Noir. ‘07 USA. 13.5%
Great gusto here as if the Cotes de Nuits were on fire with gamy tannins and an unguent wild cherry richness. This is a heartfelt pinot of great class.
Bottle: 32.00
212 Wild Earth Central Otago Pinot Noir. ‘06 NZ. 13.5%
A highly perfumed, gamy Kiwi with tannins of sensuality and suppleness. There are £50 burgundies not one tenth as exciting as this.
Bottle: 32.00
207 Calbuco Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot ‘08 Chile 13%
Severe yet playful? Possibly. Tuscany meets Pauillac is perhaps a more accurate assessment, though it is more fruity than either area achieves.
Bottle: 16.50
210 Valentin Bianchi Finca Los Primos Malbec. ‘08 Arg. 14%
Stunning richness and style, mocha coffee with roasted nuts, which carries through to lively tannins assertive without being one whit brash).
Bottle: 17.00
214 Vesevo Beneventano Aglianico. ‘07 It. 13.5%
There is fine oak integration to the soft Tuscan fruit, which doesn’t buckle under the wood, and the result is compact and very sleek (and such elegance for a £20 surely seems a misprint).
Bottle: 21.50
221 Castello di Potentino Sacrmonte Sangiovese. ‘04 It. 13.5%
Very elegant, not as earthy as Chianti Classico can be, or as tarry. Yet it has bags of character and bite, and has a refined finish. Bottle: 25.00
ELEGANT ROSÉS
301 Rosato, Alpha Zeta. ‘08 It. 12%
Delicious citrus-plum fruit from syrah, grenache and cinsault grapes.
Glass: 4.00 Bottle: 15.00

Restrained, cherry-subtle fruit of great elegance and finesse.
Bottle: 20.00
HONIED WINES TO DRINK WITH DESSERTS OR BLUE CHEESES
501 Paul Jaboulet Le Chant des Griolles Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. ‘07 Fr. Imagine
Greek honey with a honeysuckle floral undertone, plus touches of sweet peach and fig. Yummy hardly does it justice.
Half Bottle: 35.00
504 Pieropan Le Colombare Recioto de Soave. ‘06 It. 13%
Astounding deep golden colour reveals delightfully fresh ripe apricot-drenched fruit with a goosberry and lemon curd undertone. Utterly sybaritic pudding wine (or to enjoy after a meal as a dessert in itself).
Bottle 500ml: 37.00
