Christian Poveda Tribute: Screening - La Vida Loca
Date: October 12, 2009 7:00 PM
Christian Poveda was killed on September 2nd 2009 in the suburbs of San Salvador.
He paid for his life with an exceptional investigation in the heart of the "Mara 18", one of Latin America's most violent gangs. Far from any form of sensationalism, La Vida Loca is steeped with humanity, it probes the depths of hate and despair of people who have never had anything.
This uncompromising cinema-verite is true to the author's profoundly humanist convictions.
In Central America, they are called "Maras", these groups of youngsters who have modeled themselves on the Los Angeles youth gangs. They are extremely violent and are propagating terror in El Salvador and elsewhere. This is a study, through photography and the personal stories of these gang members, of a violent phenomenon that has been imported from the USA.
Director : Christian POVEDA

Hi,
I'm Alice Marchal Christian Poveda's goddaughter.
I have been to Paris for the first of the documentary I was supposed to meet my godfather after 3 years of life in different continents, different countries, cities.
I saw the first version, and I discover the final without him.
My godfather was my model, I choose him when i was twelve, he was the father that I never had.
I think that it will be interesting to sreen the ffilm in different independant cinemas such as the Richmix, the Trycycle, The Pine Charles, the Rio, The BFI, The Ritzy and to develop a Stop the Knife Campain.
I'm leaving in Peckham and in my estate a shooting incident happened at 9.30pm.
He show to us the love, the humanity, the respect in between human people.
So don't let it appear in here.
