"The media crisis in Gaza has become intolerable," said Aidan White, IFJ General Secretary. "The systematic manipulation and control of media trying to report on Gaza and the casualties being sustained inside the territory require a concerted response from the world's media."For ongoing updates on the situation in Gaza, may I recommend the excellent Twitter feed from Al-Jazeera. Al-Jazeera was one of the first agencies to release the news of Wahidi's death using Twitter.
"There is a cynical attempt to ensure that media tell the story from the Israeli side only," said White. "The truth cannot be told unless journalists are free to move, to talk with everyone involved and to see with their own eyes what is happening on the ground." link

Palestinian camerman Ihab Al-Wahidi killed in Gaza
on 09 Jan 2009
Ihab Al-Wahidi, a Palestinian journalist based in Gaza, was reportedly killed on Thursday after two tank shells hit his apartment in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood south of Gaza City. Wahidi was employed by Palestine TV and has previously worked as Yasser Arrafat's cameraman. His mother and wife were also killed in the attack.(UPDATE: The IFJ release a statement about the killing),
