Back to Vietnam

Ruth Ann Burns became the youngest accredited Vietnam war correspondent when she stepped off a plane to get her papers stamped in Saigon aged just 20 years old. Her husband Carl Burns was an Army helicopter pilot. The two of them chronicle their war stories, together with submissions from other soldiers, in a book of first-person accounts and impressions of the war called Centaurs in Vietnam: Untold Stories of The First year,
"I reached out to at least 60 guys (for submissions), and 30 of them still said, "I don't want to talk about it,' or, "I don't think I have anything to share,' " Carl said. Those who did share offered perspectives through which readers can understand the soldiers' viewpoints. The book contains submissions from 29 other people, in lengths ranging from a short poem to 20 pages. link
