Iraqi TV reporter killed

A Iraqi TV reporter in the northern city of Mosul has been shot and killed according to reports just coming in from AP,
An Iraqi policeman says gunmen emerged from a car Tuesday and opened fire on Muhieddin Abdul-Hamid near his apartment in eastern Mosul. An official with Iraqiya state TV says the 50-year-old journalist was a local anchor for the station in Mosul. The city is the center of U.S.-Iraqi operations against al-Qaida in Iraq. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information. link via Hartford Courant
Two Al-Iraqiya TV staff were killed in April, 2004 by US fire. Muhieddin Abdul-Hamid's death brings the total number of journalists and media workers killed in Iraq to 216 since the US-led invasion in 2003.
