David Gill in Afghanistan:

Welcome to acronym riddled NGO ghetto that is Kabul. Allah ACBAR! (that's the Agency Coordinating Body For Afghan Relief) and welcome to the world of sustainable programmes, capacity building, community outreach, positive outcomes and behaviour change. Financially you know it makes sense. Whilst traditional media outlets are strapped for cash and foreign journalists are forced to work on ever decreasing budgets, Afghanistan now has around £20 billion in foreign donor cash washing around its dusty streets. Is it working? That depends on whom you listen to. But the people of Kabul are working and that's why I am here. To document a city that doesn't work ...at work... in the meantime 'zenda bashi' (it means 'stay alive' in Dari).
